You Are My Sunshine: SSS Flickr Challenge #29

You-Are-My-Sunshine

Simon Says Stamp’s Flickr Challenge #29 requires that the project you create incorporate the colors black, yellow and white.

My project for this challenge is a rather bold black and white background behind a white frame with the addition of yellow flowers to soften the look of the card. I stamped SSS’s Leaves background stamp in black ink on white cardstock. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink for this because the ink leaves a really solid and detailed image. I really wanted the tangle of vines and leaves to really stand out against the white cardstock.

Since the background stamp is such a busy and bold pattern, I softened it somewhat by using a die-cut frame die called Stitched Cover-Up Companion Die from  My Favorite Thing’s Die-namics line. It is currently my favorite stitched frame die. I like the 2 windows that the die creates. The frame was cut from white cardstock and layered over the black and white cardstock. Yellow flowers with black centers were inked from SSS’s Flowers on My Mind and die-cut using the set’s coordinating dies. The flowers were arranged in a cluster on the white frame. A sentiment was stamped onto the frame in Versafine Onyx Black ink,

The entire card front was mounted onto black card stock and then adhered to a top-folding, A2 portrait-oriented card base of white cardstock.

There you have it, my submission for challenge #29. Hope you like it!
